Over so soon?!

Sometimes you get too focused on the goal ahead and forget to enjoy life at your feet.

Of course for some it takes more than the “stop and smell the roses”, domesticated blooms to distract us—but a field of wildflowers will remind all but the most jaded among us of our real priorities.

Sometimes even a small bit of color can influence the way you see the world around you.

Zoe – thanks for adding that much needed touch of color during your visit.

Every day offers little opportunities to enjoy the world’s wonders with others in your life.

Sometimes Nana gives you no discernable insights into what you should do.

So rather than wait for her lessons, you just have to make decisions and move on.

Though maybe this is actually her lesson after all…

Being in a hurry is not always bad—especially if you’re heading someplace fun!

Life needs to touch life.

Caressing another living form reminds you of the vibrancy and promise of life itself—and the tenuousness of it all.

But these contradictions make it even more precious.

So take a moment now and then to touch the life around you. A family member or friend, pet or even just a plant in your yard.

It reminds you of the connections we have to each other.

The most inspiring spiritual settings aren’t made by humans…

Spring melt in the mountains is Nana’s way of venting her pent up energy after a long, cold winter.

Standing next to a rushing stream you’ll experience an ecstatic release of energy only surpassed by the burst of activity outside schools these days as kids get out for summer break!

I celebrated this Memorial Day with a bike ride up into the clouds.

Normally the ponderosa pine forests in the foothills are sunny, warm and dry. But today they were hidden by clouds, fog and rain.

At the top of the hill I stopped to drink some water and put on warmer clothing.

The woods around me were cloaked in dense mist.

My breathing slowed and quieted. After having spent the past hour listening to my own rasping lungs, I found the absence of sound more noticeable than its presence… But within that absence I could hear the unmistakable tremor of awakening life surrounding me.

So as you go about your busy days, just remember to pause now and then to enjoy the sounds of life around you.

They’re always there—you only have to stop and listen for them.
