I moved last fall and have been intrigued this spring to see what plants and flowers are coming up around this new home of mine.

What I’ve been discovering is that the world outside my house is not a single yard, but a multitude of smaller, unique ecosystems – each with its own character, such as the patch of small yellow flowers sprouting in the back patio.

Of course the practical side of me is already planning just how I’ll manage to keep the whole place in some sense of order.

But I do find Nana chiding me for this, and telling me to just wait and see what she has to offer.

And if things end up as they usually do, she’ll come up with something far beyond what I could imagine. So if I’m smart, I’ll remember to sit back awhile and just let her amaze me.

(though I suspect she and I will have many “discussions” about the dandelions coming up in the front lawn… )
