I was out hiking this morning and the weather was cold, gray and dreary.

Not a day when you expect any inspirations.

But as I came around a bend in the trail a flash of ruddy red caught my eye.

It was from seed pods left over from last fall – a nice little reminder from Nana that somewhere under all this snow and ice smolders the promise of a coming summer.

Occasionally Nana gives you a day when it’s just common sense to sleep in.
